I became interested in photography many years ago when I realized I could create a world through photographs that I could live in, different than my reality , or perhaps exactly as my reality. I believed I could save a place in time through a photograph that would forever be protected from the blur of my inconsistent memories. Wow! What power!, I thought, and today it remains the same.
I believe, with today's technology overload, it is easy to close our eyes and watch an image melt away from memory for lack of being able to preserve the fine details of someone's face or beautiful smile simply because we do not have the mental hard drive to preserve such precious details. I realized that my love for photography came from being able to stop time, hold that thought. Photography is a marker to the ever changing thing we call time.
And so my goal is to find everyone who could possibly belong to a photograph, I've yet to take, so that they, too, can preserve the memories of the beautiful faces and loved ones that time will certainly alter.
On April 26, 2009 I received my associate fellow of photography from PPANJ
Because I am a member of PPA and PPANJ I participate in print competitions and have also been an officer over the years, including President of PPANJ in 2007. This simply means that I am involved and an active member of our association. Great exposure to some of the best talent in the country. We glean information but there is also a spirit of paying it forward this is at the heart of our association.
